‘Those who involved in Pirganj incident identified’

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that those involved in the Rangpur incident were identified immediately and 45 were arrested.

The minister said this while addressing reporters at his secretariat office on Monday noon (October 18).

He said, “The Prime Minister already directed all concerned to provide necessary assistance to the victims. District administration already has provided them cash money, clothes instantly. We will rebuild their houses soon.”

He said the incident sparked over a post on Facebook about ‘Kaaba Sharif’, by a teenage boy. “The status was given either intentionally or reluctantly, but everyone suffered in such incidents. Our police administration suspected the incident and raided the place where the boy was staying, but the boy was not found,” Kamal said.

“Police were deployed to protect the village and miscreants left the area and went to Raghunathpur union of Pirganj and set fire to several houses there,” he added.

Kamal also said that those who set fire in the village are miscreants. So far 25 houses in the area, have been torched.

The miscreants looted more than 90 houses. We have identified the attackers and managed to catch 45 persons already, he said.
