Narayanganj gunfight kills 1

Staff Correspondent, Narayanganj: A drug trader was killed in a gunfight with police in Siddhirganj of the district early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Selim alias Fensi Selim, son of Abul Kashem, hailed from Nimaikasari Baghmara area of Siddhirganj.

Police claimed that the gunfight took place in Dakshin Nimaikasari Baghmara area around 3:00am. Meanwhile, Siddhirganj police station OC and five others injured during the gunfight. The injured cops are - OC Abdus Sattar, Inspector (investigation) Nazrul Islam, Inspector (Operation) Azizul Haque, Sub-Inspector (SI) Ibrahim Patwari, SI Jahangir and Constable Saidul.

Siddhirganj police station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Sattar said that acting on a tip-off, police raided the area to detain Selim. Meanwhile, Selim and his cohorts opened fire aiming policemen. In reply, police also opened fire, leaving Selim dead on the spot and injured six policemen.

A gun, five bottle of phensidyl, 500 Yaba pills were recovered from the spot.
