Man to die for raping daughter

A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to death for raping his daughter at Keraniganj in the capital in 2022.

The court also fined the convict Tk one lakh.

Judge Shahriar Kabir of Dhaka’s Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 handed down the verdict on Thursday (April 25).

Additional public prosecutor of the tribunal concerned Naimul Islam Rizvi confirmed the news.

According to the case statements, the victim girl lived with her father in Keraniganj area of the capital. The girl’s mother lived abroad. On February 22, 2022, father of the girl raped her.

Following the incident, the girl as a plaintiff filed a case against her father with Dakshin Keraniganj Police Station.

Police arrested the man and later, he gave a confessional statement under section 164 in the court.

On August 30 of that year, investigation officer of the case submitted the chargesheet to the court.

The court delivered the verdict in the case today after the testimony of six people.
