Scarcity of hilsa; Pangash being netted in Padma

Though the season of hilsa fish is underway but the fishermen are not getting enough hilsa fish in the Padma and Meghna rivers. 

The fishermen are trying to catch hilsa fish by heart and soul but they are returning from rivers with pangash fish. 

The scenario was seen in different ghats and wholesale markets of Chandpur district.   

Local fishermen said that the season of hilsa fishing has started but, there are no sufficient fishes in rivers. As a result, the fishermen could manage their daily necessities, selling pangash. Every boat is returning to ghats with 20/25 pangash fishes. 

Trader Hazi Shabe Borat said, pangash fishes from 5kg to 15kg are being caught and are being sold from Tk 650 to Tk 750 per kg.
