Another 40 members of the Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) entered Bangladesh through two points in the Teknaf border of Cox’s Bazar to take refuge amid the ongoing conflict between the Myanmar security forces and the rebel Arakan Army (AA).

Sources said 14 BGP members entered through Sabrang Acharbunia border point on Friday midnight and 26 BGP members entered through Najirpara border point early Saturday.

Later, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members seized their weapons and took them into custody, said the sources.

Earlier, at least 288 Myanmar’s security forces, including BGP officers, army personnel and immigration officials, who had crossed the international border and took shelter in Bangladesh amid fighting in the Rakhine state were repatriated on April 25.
