PRAN Agro, Syngenta Foundation sign MoU to help farmers

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Apr 16: Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh and PRAN Agro Business Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Dr. Marco Ferroni, executive director of Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA), and Elias Mridha, director of PRAN, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at the PRAN-RFL Group corporate headquarters in the city recently.

Under this agreement, the partners will build the capacity of 5,000 small and marginal farmers of Natore district. They will jointly establish agri-related information, service and transaction centre and develop contract farming system for fresh vegetables and processed crops.

The agreement will enable PRAN to provide better supports and buy high-quality agi commodities from smallholders. Md. Mahtab Uddin, chief operating officer of PRAN Agro Business Ltd, Md. Farhad Zamil, director of Syngenta Foundation Bangladesh, Robert Berlin, Dr. Partha Das Gupta, Dr. Baskar Raddy and Clive Murray from Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA, and other officials of both organisations were also present at the signing ceremony.
