Another case filed against ex-mayor Khoka

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against former Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka, also a BNP leader, for allegedly allocating 138 shops of the capital misusing his power.

ACC deputy director Mahbubul Alam filed the case against him with Shahbagh Police Station in the capital on Thursday.

ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar confirmed the matter to risingbd.com.

According to the first information report (FIR), Khoka, violating the rules and regulations, allocated 138 shops of 10 city markets, including Kabi Nazrul College’s market and Nababbari Super Market, during 2005-2011 when he was serving as the city mayor.

The FIR said that he allocated the shops misusing his power for personal gain. The case was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.

On August 24, 2014, the ACC filed another case against the former DCC and seven others for allegedly building shops occupying parking lots and open spaces at Bangabazar and the Dhaka Trade Centre in Gulistan illegally.
