Suranjit's death irreparable loss: Speaker

Staff Correspondent: Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Sunday expressed profound shock at the death of veteran politician and former Railways Minister Suranjit Sengupta, MP.

In a condolence message, she recalled the contribution of Sengupta to
welfare of the country and its people with due respect saying, "Suranjit Sengupta was a leader of the people".

Mentioning his contribution to the progress and development of country's parliamentary democracy the Speaker said late Suranjit's vast knowledge over the Constitution and his contribution to overcoming the constitutional crisis has made him an institution ultimately.

"The nation has lost a veteran politician and parliamentarian at his
death. His death is irreparable loss to the country's political arena," Dr Chaudhury said.

The Speaker prayed for salvation of his departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.

In a joint-statement, Deputy Speaker Mohammad Fazle Rabbi Mia and Chief Whip ASM Feroz also mourned the death of lawmaker Suranjit Sengupta.
