BNP's top to bottom should resign, says Quader

Staff Correspondent: Awami League (AL) general secretary, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, Obaidul Quader urged BNP leaders to step down from top to bottom of their party posts.

He said, "BNP urged us (AL) to resign from the power. Nevertheless, they could not take streets for eight minutes in last eight years. They should resign from top to bottom of their party posts for this failure."

The ruling party general secretary came up with the reaction while speaking at a programme at Bangla Academy on Friday noon.

Earlier on Thursday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged the government to resign as the Supreme Court (SC) rejected the 16th amendment of the constitution. He also urged the government to hold election under a subsidiary government.

Quader said for Fakhrul, "We know what you want to hint by your speech. But remember, Bangladesh is now not Pakistan. It has achieved freedom after defeating it."

"AL is not a party to be diminished by one or two attempts. The base of Sheikh Hasina led AL-government is so much powerful that it will not be defeated by any lesion," he added.
