Deadly Funnel-Web Spider outbreak hit Australia

The Australian Reptile Park has released a warning to the public about an outbreak in funnel-web spiders.

The deadly species thrives in dry conditions after wet weather and there have already been scares across Australia.

Pool owners have been urged to be extra vigilant after reports that a woman in Newcastle found a spider in her pool where the creatures can survive for up to 24 hours.

One bite from a funnel-web spider can kill in 10 minutes.

If you find funnel-web spiders, Australian Reptile Park is taking donations to assist in their lifesaving antivenom program.
