Chinese engineer killed in Gazipur boiler explosion

A Chinese engineer has been killed in an explosion at a battery factory in Panishail area of Gazipur’s Kashimpur.

The deceased was known as Peu Shu Qi, 52.

Gazipur metropolitan police (GMP) Deputy Police Commissioner (crime-north) Abu Torab Mohammad Shamsur Rahman said the incident took place around 7:00pm on Tuesday (April 16).

Six people were injured in the incident at Chinese-owned Tong Rui Da Industry’s factory at Palash Housing in South Panishail. Later, the injured were taken to Sheikh Fazilatunnessa Mujib Memorial Hospital where the Chinese national died under treatment.

The factory was closed due to Eid vacation. After the vacation, the workers found that the boiler was not starting yesterday evening. Meanwhile, the explosion occurred when the Chinese national tried to repair it.
