Commuters suffer as plying of buses in Khulna suspended

Commuters are in great trouble as Khulna Bus Owners' Association suspended plying of buses and minibuses on all domestic routes in the division centering BNP's grand rally.

The grand rally is scheduled to be held in front of BNP's party office in KD Ghosh Road area of Khulna city at 2:30 pm on Saturday (February 27).

According to a decision of the association, plying of buses and minibuses on all internal routes of Khulna will remain suspended for 24 hours--from 6:00pm on Friday to 6:00pm--on Saturday.

However, leaders of the association did not specifically mention the reasons behind the suspension of plying of buses and minibuses for 24 hours.

Khulna District Bus-Minibus-Coach Owners' Association's joint secretary Anwar Hossain said a decision has been taken to suspend the plying of buses and minibuses in the division for 24 hours as there might be an indiscipline and chaos in Khulna city on Saturday centering the BNP's grand rally.

Meanwhile, commuters are suffering a lot due to the suspension of plying of buses and minibuses on all internal routes of Khulna.

Khulna City BNP president Nazrul Islam Manju said BNP would hold a grand rally at its party office in KD Ghosh Road area of the Khulna city at 2:30pm on Saturday. In order to foil the rally, police have forced the bus-minibus owners' association members and transport workers' leaders to suspend the operation of their vehicles in Khulna city and district on Saturday.
