Long-haul buses running at night to evade police

Long-buses were seen plying on Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu bridge highway in the night to evade police ignoring the government directives. In addition, a lot of auto-rickshaws also running.
Many buses were seen at Jokarchar, Analiabari, Hatia, Shalla and Elenga on the highway around 7:30 pm on Saturday (May 8).
Many people are getting on private cars to go homes. Moreover, long-haul buses of different routes were also running. The pressure of homebound people has increased on this road centering on Eid.
According to the Bangabandhu Bridge Authorities, more than 25,000 vehicles crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge in the last 24 hours from 8:00 am on Friday (May 7) to 8:00 am on Saturday (May 8). The toll has been collected Tk 1.90 crore. Although inter-district public transport remain suspended, at least 300 buses crossed the Bangabandhu Bridge. In addition, vehicles engaged in the transportation of goods, private small vehicles and motorcycles have run more.
However, many passengers were seen waiting as they did not get any vehicles to reach the destination.
Yasir Arafat, in-charge of Elenga Highway police outpost, said cases are being filed against long-haul buses plying on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway ignoring the government instructions.
