Two die of heat stroke in Munshiganj

Two people died of heat stroke in Munshiganj district due to intense heat wave on Tuesday (April 30).

The deceased were known as Omar Ali, 65, a resident of Mollarchar area under Munshiganj municipality, and Baten Majhi, 68, of Manikpur area.

Shaibal Basak, doctor at the emergency department of Munshiganj General Hospital, confirmed the news.

He said Baten Majhi was suffering from heart disease for a long time. On Tuesday he went to district registry office to sell land. After suddenly falling ill there, he was taken to the hospital where doctors declared him dead.

On the other hand, farmer Omar Ali fell unconscious while working on his land. Later, local people rescued him and took to the hospital. But he died on the way to the hospital.

Doctor Shaibal Basak said that both were brought to the hospital dead. They had symptoms of heat stroke.
