Shahnaz`s art exhibition `Kalantar` begins tomorrow

Shahnaz Sultana Dolly's solo art exhibition titled 'Kalantar' will begin tomorrow (Sunday, January 16) at Safiuddin Shilpalay at Dhanmondi in the city.

The exhibition will be inaugurated at 5.00 pm.

State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid will be present as the chief guest.

Nasir Uddin Yusuf Bachchu and Saiful Islam will be present as special guests.

The exhibition will remain open from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm till January 23.

Shahnaz Sultana has completed her master's degree in social science from the University of Dhaka. Although she has no formal education in painting, she has taken herself to a unique height.

Natural beauties always attract her. Mountains, clouds, flowers, the sky, songs of birds and natures used to touch her mind from her childhood. She used to paint that feeling in pencil and color paper.

Her new life had begun before she completed her studies. She got married to lawyer Nazrul Islam Khan and became mother of a daughter.

Once she migrated aboard. First Malaysia and then she went to Australia. But, Shahnaz continued her drawing.

Shahnaz's art exhibition 'Kalantar' contains tears, laugh, love, bitterness and unknown stories.

The unique characteristics and subjects of artist Shahnaz Sultana's paintings are the position of women under male-controlled society, feeling good, values, irregularities in the society, nature, environment, etc. Each picture in the 'Kalantar' exhibition will have a description of those.

Those concerned hope that this exhibition will create a new trend in our country. Besides, Shahnaz's paintings will be displayed outside the country in future.
