Staff Correspondent: Expressing doubt about the 7.5 percent provisional estimate of Bangladesh’s gross domestic product (GDP) in the Fiscal year 2015-16, the World Bank has projected 6.8 percent for this fiscal year.
Zahid Hussain, lead economist of the World Bank in Dhaka office, read out the keynote paper on Economic Update for Bangladesh in the capital on Saturday.
“The question is about whether the official estimate is consistent with other growth related indicators,” he said.
WB still found strong growth trend but emphasised that BBS data on economy need to be reconciled.
