Two drug peddlers killed in Cumilla gun-battle

Cumilla Correspondent: Two drug peddlers were killed in a gun-battle with police in Aranyapur area of Bibirbazar under Sadar upazila of the district early Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Sharif and Piar Ali.
The gunfight took place around 1:00am on Tuesday. Meanwhile, four policemen including Katwali model police station Inspector Rup Kumar were injured during the drive.
Police said acting on tip-off, a police team led by district police super Tanvir Salehin Imon conducted a drive in the area. Meanwhile, sensing the presence of police, the drug traders opened fire aiming the law enforcers which triggered the gun-battle, leaving Sharif, Piar Ali and Selim critically injured.
Later, the injured were sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where duty doctors declared Piar Ali and Selim dead.
A revolver, two rounds of bullets, a Pajero Jeeb, 50 kilogram of cannabis and 500 bottle of phensidyl were recovered from the spot.
The bodies were kept at Cumilla Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
