Girl raped at quarantine home, ASI arrested

A police official has been arrested for allegedly raping a girl, 22, at quarantine home in Khulna who recently has returned from India.

The alleged rapist was known as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mokhlesur Rahman.

He was arrested after the victim filed a case in this connection with Khulna Sadar Police Station on Monday (May 17) morning.

Mokhlesur Rahman was engaged in Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) court. However, he had been performing duty at PTI Quarantine Centre in Khulna from May 1.

KMP (South) Deputy Commissioner Anwar Hossain confirmed about the case and arrest of the police official.

According to family sources of the victim, the girl returned from India on May 4 and was in a 14-day quarantine at the PTI training center in Khulna. Then a love affair developed between the girl and ASI Mokhlesur Rahman. At one stage, on May 14, Mokhlesur Rahman raped her. The girl was known as a resident of Khanjahan Ali police station area of Khulna Metropolitan.
