Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Sunday described the attack on the mass-media and female journalists as an attack on democracy and country’s core development.
He made the remark while visiting Ekushey TV journalist Nadira Sharmin, who was wounded by some Hefajat-e-Islam men on Saturday, at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
Inu said those who attacked a female while on her duty are void of any teachings of Islam. “This is not what Quran teaches. This heinous inhuman crime reminds us of the brutality of 1971 in the name of Islam.”
The minister said: “We can’t think of our health, education, industry and many other sectors without women. And this attack proves that they do not want the nation`s development.”
Nadira narrated to the minister how the Hefajat men chased her from Paltan to Bijoynagar and assaulted her.
