New political alliance Ganatantra Mancha floated

A seven-party political alliance, named “Ganatantra Mancha”, which translates for “democracy platform”, has been launched today with an aim to strengthen the united mass struggle against fascist oppression.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD President ASM Abdur Rob announced the new alliance during a press conference at the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) on Monday (8 August).

The alliance consists of a faction of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rob), Nagorik Oikya, Biplobi Workers Party, Gono Odhikar Parishad, Bhasani Onusari Parishad, Rastra Sangskar Andolon and Gonoshonghoti Andolon.

Among the leaders of the coalition, Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Convener of the Gono Odhikar Parishad Dr Reza Kibria and Member Secretary Nurul Haque Noor, Chief Coordinator of Gonoshonghoti Andolon Jonaid Saki, Saiful Islam of Biplobi Workers Party and others were present there.
