ACC to appeal for increasing Khaleda’s jail term

Staff Correspondent: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will appeal within Sunday in the High Court Division to increase the jail term of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.
ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan on Wednesday morning said they had taken all preparations and would appeal within Sunday.
The trial court handed jail term to Khaleda for five years but to 10 years to each of Tarique Rahman, her son, and four others.
The ACC filed the case with Ramna Police Station in July 2008, accusing the six of misappropriating over Tk 2.1 crore that came from a foreign bank as grants for orphans.
