Bangladesh to join rescue operations in Nepal

Desk Report: Bangladesh will join the rescue operations in Nepal where more than 1,900 people were killed and many feared trapped in rubble after a devastating 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit the country.

 

Quoting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her Special Assistant Mahbubul Haque Shakil said Bangladesh would stand beside earthquake-hit Nepal and its people.

 

Sheikh Hasina said: "We would extend our helping hand to friendly state Nepal during their disaster by participating in the rescue operations and providing medical services and human assistance.

 

Shakil said the Bangladesh foreign ministry is already communicating with the Nepalese foreign ministry to know what are necessary for their help.

 

Earlier, Sheikh Hasina expressed her deep shock at the loss of life and property in a devastating earthquake in this region, including Nepal, India and Bangladesh.
