Jute mill workers postpone hunger strike

Workers of nine state-owned jute mills in Rajshahi and others districts have postponed their hunger strike for three days.  

The workers of Rajshahi joined their work station around 10:00am on Saturday, Zillur Rahman, president of CBA Sangram Parishad of Rajshahi Jute Mills confirmed.  

He said, a proposal was made around 8:00pm on Friday to discuss about the hunger strike. Later, the decision to postpone came around 3:00am on Saturday.

Earlier, the workers of Rajshahi and Khulna started hunger strike on Tuesday to meet their 11-point demand which include payment of regular wages, gratuity facility for retired workers.

Later, on Thursday, Abdur Sattar, 55, a worker of Platinum Jute Mills, fell sick at one stage of hunger strike and died at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).
