Amu assures govt`s commitment for occupational safety, health

Staff Correspondent: Minister for Industries Amir Hossain Amu reiterated Government’s commitment for ensuring occupational safety and health in the industries of Bangladesh.

The minister is now in a visit to Denmark. On the second day of his visit, he met the Danish Minister of Employment Jorn Neergaard Larsen at Copenhagen. During the meeting both the ministers discussed, among others, Denmark-Bangladesh Strategic Sector Cooperation launched in Dhaka in March 2015.

The Bangladesh Minister briefed about the action plan of the Government in attaining the safety and worker’s rights, especially in RMG sector. The Danish Minister appreciated the steps taken by the Government and expressed Danish Government’s interest to continue their cooperation for better working conditions in the Bangladesh Industries including the RMG sector which has set a goal to export $50bn worth of products in near future.

 

Earlier, the Industries Minister held discussions with the top management of Aral Foods, the leading dairy company in the Nordic region and discussed the possible areas of mutual cooperation in ensuring availability of nutritious dairy products within the reach of mass people in Bangladesh. The two day official visit of the Minister has rounded off by a dinner hosted by the Chairman of Haldor Topsoe A/S the leading business tycoon of Denmark at the historic Frydenlund Castle

 

Bangladesh Ambassador to Denmark Muhammad Abdul Muhith and Danish Ambassador to Bangladesh Hanne Fugle Eskaer accompanied the Minister at various events during his visit to Denmark.
