BGMEA monitoring salary-allowance issue

Staff Correspondent: Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) formed a committee to monitor salary-allowance payment related issues of workers.

The committee will work to ensure the salary before July 10 and Eid bonus before July 14 of workers. The committee also will work to prevent any unrest in workers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

BGMEA vice-president (finance) Riaz Bin Mahmud was made the convener of the committee which is divided into seven regional areas.

Besides, a crisis control room was opened to continue nonstop communication with readymade garments factories. BGMEA staffs will work in the control room shift wise.

Sources said that total 15 teams will work in the monitoring system. If any untoward situations generated, then the police stations in every district are requested to take steps to face the crisis. However, the garment factories which are not member of BGMEA will not be controlled by the committee.

Following the matter, BGMEA vice-president Riaz-bin-Mahmud told risingbd.com that all garment factories are directed to ensure salary-allowances in time to avert any untoward situations. But, BGMEA will not take responsibilities who are not the member of the organisation.
