Govt to provide farmers free agro machines

Secretariat Correspondent: The government will provide `Rice Planters` and `Reaper Machines` worth Tk 10 crore and 60 lakh to the farmers of country`s wetland areas to reduce their sufferings in boro rice cultivation season.  

Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury made the disclosure through a press conference in the ministry office at the Secretariat on Wednesday.

"The farmers will be provided `Rice Planter` and `Reaper Machine` at free of cost as the fund will be allocated from the government`s Agriculture Rehabilitation Programme ," said Matia Chowdhury.

"The aims and prospects of this programme are to reduce the cultivation cost by using modern tools, to reduce cultivation time, to increase the earnings of the farmers through using technologies," added the minister.
