One killed in Gazipur ‘gunfight’

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A youth, who was accused in 15-16 cases, has been killed in a ‘gunfight’ with DB police.
The gunfight took place around 2.30am on Monday in Segunbagan area of T&T colony under the city corporation’s Naljani.
The deceased was identified as Budu Monir (30), son of Siraj Uddin, a laborer of Agriculture Research Institute.
Amir Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Detective Branch (DB) of Gazipur police, said on secret information, a team the detectives conducted a drive in the area.
Sensing danger, the terrorists opened fire at the law enforcers, prompting a retaliation that triggered a gunfight, leaving Badu Monir dead on the spot.
Later, police recovered the body of Monir and arrested another terrorist Anwar (28).
Officer-in-charge of the DB Amir Hossain and ASI Md Saklain were injured in the incident.
Monir had 15-16 cases with Joydebpur Thana, he added.
