`Suffering during Eid not new`

Mohammad Naimuddin: Bangladesh Railway (BR) started selling of train tickets in advance from July 9 (Thursday) aiming to ease the travel of home-bound people to celebrate the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.

After visitingKamalapur Railway Station in Dhaka, it was spotted that a lot of people have to wait many times for a ticket to go home.

Separate train tickets seekers, however, alleged that they were waiting for long time but did not get a ticket yet.

One ticket seeker, hailed from Jamalpur, Abdul Kuddus, told risingbd.com this noon, "I am here since last night to get advance ticket of July 17 but I do not get a ticket till now."

"And it is also not certain that when I will get a ticket for July 17," said the Jamalpur day laborer.

Not only Abdul Kuddus, but a lot of tickets seekers from Jamalpur, Kishoreganj and Rajshahi areas are waiting just for a ticket to go home to be united with the family members.

But, when asked about time to get tickets, one Railway Station officials showing negligence said, "Tickets are being sold but people`s suffering is not new during Eid time."

It was also alleged that the officials concerned with the Railway Station sold tickets to their relatives, nears and dears while scores of general ticket seekers were suffering for tickets.

"We do not get tickets but the relatives of the officials are being got tickets as usual," alleges another ticket seeker from Kishoreganj, Nazma Islam.

Refusing the allegations, Railway officials, however, said; "The situation is now well than that of the previous years."

The return tickets to Dhaka and Chittagong from other places in the country after the Eid vacation will be available from July 16 to 20.

Return train journey is scheduled to operate from July 20 to July 24.
