Faruk killing: Two other surrender

Staff Correspondent, Tangail:  Two other accused have surrendered to a Tangial court in the case filed for killing  Awami League leader and freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed.

 

The accused are Masudur Rahman Masud, former councillor of Tangail municipality, and Nasiruddin Nuru.


Rejecting their bail plea, Judge of Tangail First Additional and Sessions Juge Court Abul Mansur Mia ordered to send them to jail.


Earlier, local Awami League MP Amanur Rahman Rana surrededed to the same court and he is now at jail.


Tangail AL leader and freedom fighter Faruk Ahmed was shot dead near his residence in Tangail town on January 18, 2013.

On January 22, 2013, Faruk`s wife Nahar Ahmed filed the murder case with Tangail Model Police Station against unidentified criminals.

According to the charge sheet, freedom fighter Faruk, the then publicity secretary of Tangail district AL unit, decided to contest for the post of Tangail AL general secretary in 2012.

However, MP Amanur and his family were against it as his brother Shahidur was making preparations to run for the same post. Amanur tried to persuade Faruk to quit the race but failed. The MP and his brothers then ordered their accomplices to kill him.
