Banks to remain open Saturday

DHAKA, June 26: All branches of scheduled banks will remain open on June 29, Saturday, according to a circular of Bangladesh Bank (BB), issued Wednesday.
 
The central bank took the decision as the last two days of the outgoing 2012-13 financial year falls on a weekend.
 
The BB said it decided to keep open banks on next Saturday so the National Board of Revenue (NBR) can encash their cheques and pay orders against revenue earnings and people deposit income tax by June 30.
