10km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway

Staff Correspondent, Gazipur: A 10-kilometre stretch long tailback ensued at Chandra Tri-intersection area on Dhaka-Tangail highway, caused a lot of sufferings for the passengers of the route.

The gridlock ensued due to construction work of upgrading the highway to four-lane and continuous rain since Sunday night.

According to highway police and locals, the highway from Bhogra bypass to Elenga of Tangail is upgrading to four-lane.Currently the construction work is ongoing from Bhogra bypass to Chandra of Kaliakoir part. With this, continuous rain has been added that caused a long gridlock on the highway.

Md Hossain Sarker, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Salna Highway Police Station, confirmed the news.
