`We cannot turn BUET into militancy arena`

In the name of depoliticization, we cannot make Bangladesh University of Technology and Engineering (BUET) an arena of militancy, said the Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud. 

The foreign minister said this at a discussion on ‘Smart Bangladesh of Liberation War’ at the 56th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Cholochitra Sangbadik Samity on Monday (April 1) afternoon.

“There was student politics in BUET. Many veteran politicians of the country have passed from BUET. A group, who boycotted the election and sought help from foreigners, now wants no politics in BUET”, he said.

The foreign minister also said that an untoward incident took place in BUET, and the incident had also been judged. But, we have to find out whether the banned militant groups are active and why they want to ban student politics.
