Farhad Mazhar to be produced before court

Staff Correspondent: Writer, columnist and poet Farhad Mazhar has been taken to the office of deputy commissioner (DC) of police (Tejgaon zone).

From there, he would be produced before a Dhaka court on Tuesday noon.

Biplop Kumar Sarker, DC of Dhaka Metropolitan Police ( Tejgaon zone), confirmed the news to risingbd.

He said, "His (Farhad Mazhar) family raised allegations of abducting him. Alongside, they claimed that the abductors also demanded ransom from them. So, an abduction case would be filed in this regard with Adabor Police Station."

He would be produced before a court after showing him rescued in the case, he added.

Avaynagar police rescued him from a Hanif Paribahan bus at Noapara area in Jessore at 11:30pm on Monday, 18 hours after he mysteriously went missing in the wee hours.

He was a passenger of seat no. I-3, bus no. 505 (AC) of Hanif Paribahan.  He used his name as 'Mr. Gafur' in the ticket, according to Supervisor of the bus.

After recovery, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) took him to Khulna. Later, He was handed over to Dhaka police around 1:30am on Tuesday.
