Thousands marooned in Bogra

Bogra Correspondent: Onrush of water from the upstream and heavy rain have triggered low-lying area flooded Sariakandi upazila of Bogra, leaving around one lakh people marooned.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Moniruzzaman on Saturday said water of Jamuna River is flowing over danger mark and entered west areas of Kutubpur and Kamalpur dam.

Besides, water also entered Konibari and Bohaile areas, leaving around one lakh people marooned, he added.

People from low-lying area of the dam are being relocated to safe places, he said.

District Education Officer Gopal Chandra said water has not entered any school of Sariakandi, Sonatola and Dhunot upazilas. All schools are running as usual.

District Administrative Nure Alam Siddique told risingbd that arrangements have been made to provide relives to the flood affected people.
