Two killed as bus runs over motorbike in Khagrachhari

Khagrachhari Correspondent: Two motorcycle riders were killed and two others were injured critically as a speedy bus ran over their bikes at Amtol area of the district's Manikchhari upazila early Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Mohidul Islam, 33, and Md Arif, 25. They are residents of Jaliyaparha area of Guimara upazila.

The injured are Jamal Uddin, 29, and Milton Khan. Jamal was sent to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.

Local sources said a gang of smugglers were fleeing with four cattle by a bus from Chaitala area of the district's Ramgarh upazila. Being informed, people on motorbikes chased the bus from Guimara upazila. The bus ran over their motorbikes as they tried to stop it at Amtol of Manikchhari, leaving two dead on the spot and two injured.

Main Uddin Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manikchhari Police Station, said it was unclear that what was in the bus and why the motorbike riders were chasing it?
