Four women die after taking saline in Rajshahi

An allegation has been raised that four women have died after taking saline in Rajshahi.

The women were given saline for caesarian operation at Rajshahi Islami Bank Medical College Hospital, and they died within short time. The incident took place recently.

Two other women who fell ill after being given saline are still in the intensive care unit (ICU). Meanwhile, it has been alleged that the relatives of two of the deceased women were managed by the hospital authorities to avoid the issue.

The hospital authorities said that the saline has been sent to Dhaka for examination. Besides, a six-member inquiry committee has been formed. But the matter was not reported to the office of the District Civil Surgeon or the Health Directorate.
