1,000 kg fishes killed by pouring poison in Ashulia

Miscreants have killed nearly 1,000 kg fishes by pouring poison in a farm at Ashulia in Savar, the outskirts of Dhaka.

The incident took place at Pran Prokriti Agro Farm at Zirabo area of Ashulia on Thursday.

Savar upazila senior fisheries officer Harun-Or-Rashid confirmed the matter on Friday morning.

Farm owner Shahidul Islam said, ‘I’ve been cultivating fishes at farm of nearly 60 bighas of land for long days. Fishes suddenly started floating on Thursday (August 13). Then, around 30 to 40 ton fishes were removed and put under soil by 30 to 40 people. Besides, nearly 100 ton fishes floated on water till today (Friday). Now, stench of dead fishes spread the entire area.’

Farmer Shahidul Islam alleged that he faced a loss of about Tk 5 crore for this.
