Bangladeshi youth killed in `BSF firing` in Chuadanga

A Bangladeshi young man was shot dead by members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along Thakurpur border in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga early Sunday (October 18).

The deceased was identified as cow trader Omidul, 18, son of Shahidul from Thakurpur village of the upazila.

Mohammad Khalequzzaman, Director of Chuadang-6 battalion of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) said a patrol team of BSF members opened fire on Omidul on the border in the wee hours of day when he approached the border pillar 89 to bring cattle from the country, leaving him dead. Later, they took away his body.

BGB sent a letter of protest to Maluapara, BSF, requesting it to hold a flag meeting over the incident, he said.

Omidul’s body will be sought from the flag meeting, he added.
