A court in Sylhet has granted a three-day remand to Mahbubur Rahman Rony in a case filed over the recovery of arms from the hostel of Murari Chand College.

Rony is the number 2 accused in the case filed over the gang-rape of a woman at Murari Chand (MC) College in Sylhet.

Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 on Monday (October 19) passed the remand order when police produced Rony before the court with four-day remand prayer.

Amulya Kumar Chowdhury, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, confirmed the information.

On Friday (September 25) afternoon, a group of BCL leaders and activists forcibly confined a couple who were going to visit the college campus. Later, the woman was gang-raped by BCL men at the hostel of Murari Chand College.

Police rescued the couple around 10:30 pm.

A case was filed against nine people including Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Saifur in connection with the gang-rape of the woman on Saturday night.
