2 persons jailed for killing birds in Hakaluki haor

A mobile court in Moulvibazar has sentenced two persons to jail for one month each on charge of killing migratory birds in Hakaluki haor under Juri upazila of the district.

Juri Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Al-Imran Ruhul Islam confirmed the news.

Based on a secret information, a mobile court carried out a drive in a house of the upazila where migratory birds were kept after allegedly killing them. Later, two persons involved in the incident were sentenced to jail for one month each under Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act, 2012, the UNO said.

He added that they will regularly conduct drive against those poaching migratory birds and take stern action against them.
