1464 Rohingyas on way to Bhasanchar

In third phase, 1464 more Rohingyas are going to Bhasanchar, an island around 37 miles off the coast of Bay of Bengal under Hatiya upazila of Noakhali.

In third phase, another 1778 Rohingyas went to Bhasanchar on Friday.

A naval official said four naval ships carrying Rohingyas left Patenga in Chattogram for Bhasanchar on Saturday morning and they will reach Bhasanchar around 12.00pm.

Earlier on Friday, they reached Chattogram from Cox's Bazar, where they have been staying since 2017. They stayed overnight at BF base Zahur in Chattogram.

Commodore Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, project director of the Bhasanchar Rohingya Ashrayan Project, said that Rohingyas, who are willing to go there, are being taken.

He also said the navy had taken all necessary steps to relocate the Rohingyas in Bhasanchar.
