Woman raped by son-in-law after threatening to divorce wife

A woman, 55, was allegedly raped by her son-in-law after threatening to kill her and divorce her daughter.

The incident took place at Bihari camp in Tajmahal area in Mymensingh city.

The rapist was known as Shahab Uddin, 40. He went hiding after the incident came to public on Saturday (April 10).

The victim said, “I sent money to my daughter by working as a housemaid at different houses. Recently, I have gone to my daughter’s home as I did not have any work. One night, son-in-law suddenly grabbed me and started to violate me. He threatened me to kill if I disclosed the matter. He did not give me leave the house as well. Now I am helpless and tell the matter to people.”

Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firuz Talukdar said, “No complaint has yet not filed in this connection with the police station. The person will be taken under the law after investigating the matter.”
