BGB on alert along border as Rohingyas start intruding again

Rohingyas again have started to flee from Myanmar and entering Cox’s Bazar. Some of Rohingyas have already took shelter in various camps. In the past week, more than 50 new Rohingyas have entered the camp.

As a result, the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has taken a cautious stand at the Cox’s Bazar border to prevent the infiltration. Besides, the number of BGB patrols has also been increased.

BGB Headquarters Director (Operations) Lt Col Faizur Rahman and Commanding Officer (SP) of the 16th Armed Police Battalion Tariqul Islam confirmed the information.

However, Additional commissioner of Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner's Office Mohammad Shamsuddoha has declined to make any comment in this regard.

Sona Ali, who arrived in Shalbagan camp in Teknaf on April 29, said, “I was imprisoned in Myanmar for four years, five months and five days. The Myanmar government released me on April 17 this year. I came to Bangladesh on April 29. Now I am living in Shalbagan camp with my wife and children.”

Meanwhile, the conscious community in Cox’s Bazar has expressed concern over the newly infiltrated Rohingyas taking shelter in the camp.
