9 more Covid-19 deaths, 42% infection rate reported in Chapainawabganj

At least 14 people died of coronavirus in Chapainawabganj in the last two days. Of them, five were reported to pass away on Thursday (June 03) while nine on Friday (June 04). About 42 per cent of infection was reported on Friday.

Chapainawabganj Civil Surgeon Zahid Nazrul Chowdhury confirmed over the death toll.

He said, “All the nine people died in Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) on Friday.”

Civil Surgeon said, “Some 109 people were found positive after testing 262 samples from 8:00 am on Wednesday (June 02) to 8:00 am on Thursday (June 03) in the district. As a result, 41.60 per cent of infection rate was reported during the period. Earlier a day, infection rate was reported 42.79 there.”

A total of 54 people died from coronavirus in the district till the date, he said.

Dr Ahnaf Shahriar, spokesperson of corona unit of Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, told risingbd that a total of 30 people are currently undergoing treatment in the hospital. The unit has a total of 30 beds.

The second phase all-out lockdown is undergoing across Chapainawabganj. Lockdown was enforced for a week for the first time. Later, it was extended till June 7. The local administration issued lockdown in the district after the infection rate reached 55 per cent.
