Three killed in Rangamati shootout

Three people were killed in a shootout between JSS and Mog Party at Paindang Para in Gaindya Union of Rangamati’s Rajsthali upazila on Tuesday (March 22) morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet. However, it was learned one of the deceased was guide.

According to locals, on Tuesday morning, a group of 12-13 members of Mog Liberation Party from Rajvila in Bandarban were on their way to their abode in the deep forest of Rangamati. JSS members attacked on them at Noapara area of Kechingpara in Balumura of Ward no 6 of Gainda Union. Three people were killed during the shootout.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration & Crimes) Mahmuda Begum said, “We have heard of people being killed in shootout on the Rangamati-Bandarban border. It is unknown at this moment how many were killed as it is a remote area.”

He further sad, “Army and police members had rushed to the spot. The details will be known when they return.”
