Flood in Sylhet: Death toll now 46

The death toll from flood in different parts of Sylhet has reached 46 with the report of 23 more deaths in the past 24 hours till Thursday (June 23).

Sylhet Divisional Director of Health, Dr Himangshu Lal Roy said, among the four districts of the division, the highest number of deaths was 28 in Sunamganj. Besides, 16 more deaths from Sylhet, three from Moulvibazar and one from Habiganj were reported.

He said, the death toll rises today as the reports from various areas came slowly due to communication gap. These victims lost their lives in first phase and second phases of the flood.

The first phase flood had begun on May 17 and the second phase from June 14 in the Sylhet division.
