‘It feels different to cross Padma Bridge for first time’

“The feeling is different to cross the dream Padma Bridge for the first time, which cannot be explained,” Zobayer Ahmed Khan Zaba, a businessman from Khulna, expressed the overwhelming feeling on Sunday (June 26), the very first day of the Padma Bridge launch.

He said, “Not by ferry, launch or speed boat, crossing the Padma directly by vehicle seemed really unbelievable. For this reason, I got down from vehicle and walked on the bridge, took selfies and touched the bridge which made to satisfied.”

After staying in Dhaka for several days, businessman Zaba returned Khulna on Sunday over the Padma Bridge.

Not Zobayer Ahmed Khan Zaba alone, many people like him expressed their satisfaction after enjoying of stepping foot on the Padma Bridge on the very first day. They expressed their excitement. They are also spreading the pictures taken while crossing the Padma Bridge, on social media.

Meanwhile, the number of transports on the Dhaka-Khulna route has been increased. There are more than 20 counters at the Royal intersection in Khulna for Dhaka-bound public transports. On Sunday (June 26) morning, it was seen that buses were continuously leaving for the capital.

Ashraf Uddin, who was traveling on the Dhaka-Khulna route, said, “I am going to Dhaka for business purpose. The dream of crossing the Padma Bridge is being fulfilled.”

Another passenger named Asgar Ali said, “I am going to Dhaka on the very first day of the Padma Bridge launch. It used to take about 7 hours to reach Dhaka. Today it is likely to take three and a half hour or four hours. It’s a big gift for people of the south region.”

Returning from Dhaka on Sunday (June 26), Usman Jahangir, a local media worker from Fultala, expressed his feelings, saying, “The dream Padma Bridge is really a dream.”

Sharif Al Mamun, manager of Imad Paribahan’s Royal Intersection counter, said 23 buses leave Khulna for Dhaka every day. But on the occasion of launching Padma bridge, two more buses have been added. The next two days will be seen experimentally. If the number of passengers increases, the number of buses will also increase.
