3 killed in Patuakhali lightning

Three people were killed by lightning in Galachipa upazila in Patuakhali district on Thursday (August 18).

The deceased were known as Mostafa Hawladar, 55, hailed from Shantinagar area, Mamun Pada, hailed from Charkajol and Roman Mufti, hailed from Chalitabunia.

Local sources said, Mostafa went to saw seeds at field adjacent to his home around 3:30pm. Meanwhile, a thunderbolt hit him, leaving him dead on the spot.

Another victim, Mamun and Roman have been killed by lightning strikes while catching fish.

Galachipa police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) confirmed the matter.
