Mahbubul Khalid’s song highlights Shab-e-Barat significances

The holy Shab-e-Barat, the night of atonement, is being observed tonight (March 29) in Bangladesh with due religious fervour.

It is the night of fortune and forgiveness. According to Muslim belief, Shab-e-Barat is the night when Allah arranges the affairs of the following year. On this night, the Almighty writes the destinies of all the creations for the coming year by taking into account their past deeds.

Muslim devotees pass the night offering special prayers, reciting from the Holy Quran, holding milad, zikr and other religious rituals seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind. After sundown on Shab-e-Barat, Muslim devotees start their prayers with "Isha Ki Namaz". The prayer session continues for the entire night and on the next day before the azaan, Sehri is eaten. The fast for Shab-e-Barat starts after that.

Bangladeshi poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has penned a song on the holy occasion that highlights the significances of the day. The music of the song titled ‘Shab-e-Barat’ has been composed by popular composer Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.

Young and promising singers Tina Mostary and Rajib rendered their voices to the song.

The song has been released on video sharing platform YouTube's ‘Khalid Sangeet’ channel. It is also been published on ‘www.khalidsangeet.com’, a website that contains the songs and poems of Mahbubul Khalid.
