Mahbubul Khalid’s song celebrates first day of rainy season

Today is the beginning of Bangla month of Ashar, first of the two months that constitute the rainy season. People of Bangladesh welcome the rainy season each year celebrating its arrival.

The rainy season has profound influence on the agriculture, economy, culture and celebrations of the Bangalees. The monsoon is considered as bringer of life as this is the season for sowing paddy. This is also the season of blossoming Kadam with its cloying fragrance.

Monsoon has been an integral part of the Bangalee life and literature. The season has been pervading Bangla literature since its earliest days, with a treasure trove of poetry, songs, hymns, novels and short stories glorifying the season and the beauty it infuses in nature.

Renowned poet, lyricist and composer Mahbubul Khalid has also penned a song on the occasion which celebrates and welcomes the arrival of rainy season. The lyricist himself composed the music of the song titled Borsha Elo aj Duare (The Monsoon has Arrived at the Door). Popular young singers Rajib and Nandita rendered their voices to the song.
